Menurut catatan dari Wikipedia, karakter dan budaya Santa Claus dalam sambutan perayaan Krismas dianggap sebagai salah satu amalan sekularisme yang diterima oleh masyarakat Kristian hari ini (lebih kurang macam amalan memberi duit raya semasa perayaan Aidilfitri) sebagai salah satu budaya dalam sambutan perayaan Krismas, dan budaya pemberian hadiah oleh Santa Claus ini dikatakan bermula dengan gabungan karakter seorang tokoh paderi Ortodoks Yunani bernama Saint Nicholas dengan kisah-kisah mitos Nordic.
