Mexican economy shrinks 8.3 pct in 2020 due to COVID-19

MEXICO CITY, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's economy contracted 8.3 percent in 2020 year-on-year, marking its worst setback since the 1930s largely due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, according to preliminary estimates published Friday by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). On July 3, 2020, Al Jazeera through segment 101 East published a 26-minute short documentary (by Drew Ambrose and Jenni Henderseon) on how Malaysia treated illegal immigrants while Covid-19 was in critical condition (within the MCO). Locked Up in Malaysia's Lockdown Hidden away in the COVID-19 pandemic are Malaysia's migrant workers. For years, they have done the country's most dangerous, dirtiest jobs. Now, undocumented foreign workers are scared for their future.
