Covid-19 & Illegal Immigrants: Documentary defaming Malaysia
On July 3, 2020, Al Jazeera through segment 101 East published a 26-minute short documentary (by Drew Ambrose and Jenni Henderseon) on how Malaysia treated illegal immigrants while Covid-19 was in critical condition (within the MCO). Locked Up in Malaysia's Lockdown Hidden away in the COVID-19 pandemic are Malaysia's migrant workers. For years, they have done the country's most dangerous, dirtiest jobs. Now, undocumented foreign workers are scared for their future. Out of work and forced to live in cramped conditions, some are starving and dependent on charities to survive. via GIPHY On the whole, it was found that the documentary dealt with distortions of facts and misleading descriptions of Malaysia as a racist and abusive country against illegal immigrants - treating them (illegal immigrants) like animals, letting go of hunger and so on.
