Labour Dept: 45 employers prosecuted so far for violating workers' housing rules

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A total of 45 employers have so far been prosecuted in court and fined a total of RM332,000 for violating the Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities (Amendment) Act 2019 (Act 446), says the Labour Department. Read full story

On July 3, 2020, Al Jazeera through segment 101 East published a 26-minute short documentary (by Drew Ambrose and Jenni Henderseon) on how Malaysia treated illegal immigrants while Covid-19 was in critical condition (within the MCO). Locked Up in Malaysia's Lockdown Hidden away in the COVID-19 pandemic are Malaysia's migrant workers. For years, they have done the country's most dangerous, dirtiest jobs. Now, undocumented foreign workers are scared for their future.
